Interesting Sighting Details of the Fear Liath

Do you love mountain climbing that much? If so, and you happen to be in Scotland, you would most likely grab every chance you get to climb the highest peak in the mountain range of Cairngorms, that is, the mountain of Ben MacDhui. But did you know that “someone” or should I better say, “something” up there is scaring away every mountaineer that passes by? If not, then you have not yet heard about Fear Liath, have you?

The Fear Liath, which is simply called The Big Gray Man, is a creature or merely a presence that is said to haunt adventurers in the summit of Ben MacDhui. Several climbers have spoken about their encounters with the Fear Liath. Some claimed to have vaguely seen it while many others said that they have only felt it.

Those who have “seen” it described the Fear Liath, as a very large creature having very broad shoulders. It stands fully erect at a height of about 20 feet or more. It is said to be olive in color and coated all over with a thick layer of short brown hair or fur. Its neck and head are excessively larger compared to the rest of its body. It has pointed ears and very long fingers and toes, with huge sharp talons.

Its overall appearance can be considered as resembling much closer to an ape than a human being. Hence, some tend to link the Fear Liath, with the Big Foot of North America, or the Yeti of the Himalayas. Additionally, some footprints that were found in the mountain of Ben MacDhui strongly resemble those of the famous Big Foot or Yeti.

But then, the Fear Liath is much more than what it seems to look like. It is often described as having paranormal powers, like being able to control the fog or cause dark blurs which shroud the sky. It can make echoing footsteps and strange crunching noises that chase the listener. And it also creates an icy feeling in the atmosphere, or a cold brush against, or grip on the flesh of the observer.

Moreover, the Fear Liath is also said to possess the ability to control or manipulate one’s mental and psychological disposition. Those who have had their “encounters” with the Fear Liath often report inexplicable and inevitable feelings of negative energy, as they sometimes experience severe depression and body lethargy. The extreme fear or despondency caused by the presence of the Fear Liath can cause an individual to commit suicide.

The different sightings and some photographs of strange footprints may not be enough to really prove the existence of The Fear Liath, but anyone should try taking some precautions as you climb up the summit of Ben MacDhui.
